Mauramodel, not to make light of your pain and angst about work, but really, that has to be one of the best subject lines I've ever received. And yet it WASN'T FLAGGED!!!! Congratulations! If six f-bombs don't get stopped by Da Yahoo Copz, what WILL??? THat's MY question.

Anyway, sorry to make fun... I know you like working there except for dealing with her ditzballiness. It's like I said about Frank all the time: Dingdong might own the place, and she might take care of and CONTROL certain things, manage certain things (stock, menu, etc) but that doesn't mean she knows how to MANAGE PEOPLE, which is a big difference. But I don't get the whole "keeping you and Todd apart." This isn't ROMEO AND JULIET, Maura. Do you really think that's what's going on? Unless... someone else at the resto has her ear and has given her the idea that you two need to be kept apart... unless for reasons of her own that maybe have nothing at all to do with running a professional establishment (that sounds like a euphemism for a whorehouse ) she wants to keep you away from Todd.

As for the giving you a hard time about the one thing you missed when you closed while overlooking all the things you got done, yeah, that's the sign of a bad manager. (Along with being so far behind on the books after a busy season that you have thirty days worth of guest checks and credit card receipts sitting in your office waiting to be reconciled) Not mentioning to employees when they do something RIGHT but only mentioning the stuff they MISS. That used to piss me off when I closed at Frank's too. Always the next day, I could count on his fat greasy goombah face sputtering "You know, you guys gotta stop rushing outta here at night... you left the lights on over the bar." THAT was what made me wanna strangle him. It was never something big like, say, "The back door wasn't locked" or "The alarm wasn't armed" or "THere was cash missing from the till" etc etc etc. No... it was always NITPICKY LITTLE SHIT like "You didn't empty the trash in the bathroom... you didn't turn the dishwasher off... you forgot to put the recycling out." WELL, WHY DON'T YOU JUST STAY LATE AT "YOUR" RESTAURANT AND PUT THE REFUCKINGCYCLING OUT YOURSELF???!!!!!!????!!!!

And what got me most was, that could have very easily have been negated by him if he'd just NOTICED WHEN I DID GOOD WORK. Like said "Great job handling that rush, Rita" or "Good work getting that bar order out there" or "Thanks for checking the towels in the rest room" or "Thanks for bussing that bus pan when we got busy out there" or something dumb like that. Noticing things that I DID WITHOUT HIM ASKING ME, that I really didn't NEED to do, that weren't my JOB but I did them because there I was, someone had to do them, etc etc. Instead of telling me the freakin' takeout containers needed restocked. Please.

It's that whole thing that really just makes you feel like "OK, this job obviously means more to ME than I mean to THEM, so now what?" You know? So I really didn't feel all that bad when I left. You didn't know me back then but I barely gave my two weeks. I don't ever just walk out of jobs but it was all I could to not just walk out of that one. And it wasn't any one thing; it was all those little things that you describe that just day after day, week after week, added up, till I didn't care that I was taking home a hunnerd fiddy bucks a night in tips.

And so I quit that job, and I moved to Bawlmore with Tony, and we lived happily ever after, and here I sit, it's not even 8:30 and Dannydan has puked already.

Some kinda bug. He's snoozing away. Margo said she had a touch of something earlier this week and I felt a little gnarly myself yesterday. Wonder if something's going around.

Big heat wave coming and I'm not gonna make it worse for the fella by turning the air off, that's for sure. Nope, it's frosty cold in here. I don't know what it's like outside and I don't CARE. I'm in here. Bwah hahahahahaha...

No work at the warehouse this week. I work an afternoon game on Sunday, then Monday and Wednesday. And I'm working at the cafe tomorrow midday. That should be fun.

I mean that.

See because the cafe is managed the way Frank's and Dingdong's (MAYBE THEY SHOULD OPEN A PLACE TOGETHER!!!!) should have been managed. Or maybe it's just that I'm not there full time and I don't see all the bullshit. I'm not there relying on the hours I get to support myself and my family. I just come in on Friday mornings, maybe a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, and when I show up I'm usually covering for someone who can't make it, so I'm like the cavalry riding over the hills. I'm greeted as a hero. And then, just as the place is starting to get to me and I'm thinking "OK, if I have to whip up ONE MORE frappin' frappe, I think that I may EXPLODE here," guess what? MY SHIFT IS OVER! and I can go home to a puking baby!

ANyhoo... I'm sorry you have to put up with that right now. You talked about finding something else. Are you keeping your eyes opened?

Tony's up. He slept in. I can hear him moving around. Wonder if he has a touch of it.

RIta it pisses me off so much, I just need to vent. I am so fucking tired of working these DEAD WEDNESDAY NIGHTS and TODD DOESN'T WORK WEDNESDAYS, she's just scheduling me when he's not on to "keep us apart" like we're little kids and don't know how to behave when we're together. And I make NO tips Wed (well not NONE but compared to Fri nite which I WON'T be working it's nothing). And then I'm on Sat and Sun. Pisses me the fuck off. Fucking ding dong. I didn't even have a shift meal, told Ryan to leave a note for Todd that I didn't eat anything and bring me something home tomorrow night. Ryan was cute, he said "don't you like my cooking" and I said "it's not that, sweetie, I just have to get the freak outta here." "Get the freak outta here huh? You mean fuck?" lol This on top of her giving me a hard time about what WASN'T done that night I closed by myself. Didn't get into all of the stuff about how the drawer was counted down the deposit made, all the doors locked, everything in the resto checked. "There weren't really any linens in the dry sink upstairs by the bar." FUCK YOU!! I've got your fucking linens RIGHT HERE CUNT!!!! Bitch. OK, I feel a little better now but now that ranting made me HUNGRY lol. I wish Todd was here. He's still up in the air re his move but at least come labor day I will know he is nearby and not down there, up here, whereever. And my feet are so sore, the arches in my left foot killing me. I had a blister on the outside of my left sole from my rollerblades (from my socks actually) and a couple nights ago scratched it open, it was sore and I was walking favoring THAT, and now the OTHER side of my foot hurts. I need a foot massage! HELLLLP!!!! We are going camping next week and it cannot come soon enough. I need a good jump! So how are you??? Did you work at all over the all star break??? When are you in next at the cafe?? I almost called tonight but thought it'd be too late, hope your week is going better than mine, sorry to swear at you but I needed to vent and it made me feel better. Well, first of all let me say that the picture of the two of them you took last night is SO CUTE! He is a HUNK!! WOW! Give your sister a slap when you see her next time... she is wrong... "DILF" is just too gay a word to describe him. He reminds me of Dennis Wilson circa 1970, seriously. And the two of them together just made me go awwwwwwww. Just all happy and young and Maura is so glowy. So DARK. She tans dark like you. I thought you irish girls were supposed to be all pale and fair and BURN easily.

How WERE those burgers anyway? I can't remember if you said in fact you went to the restaurant (or "resto" as Maura says) and had a meal. We did... awesome. Except the night we went Todd wasn't working.

And I'm sure that Maura reviewed this with you but dingdong's name is Jill. I met her. She IS a dingdong. You can tell from the moment you meet her. Flighty. And Maura said SO disorganized, or looks that way, but somehow things get done.

Anyway don't get too carried away with the whole "little Mauras" thing... you know what I mean. As one who pressured Rita and Tony low those many years... except look... now they're married with a baby boy. So never mind... get carried away, lmaaaao. Apparently it WORKS.

So anyway... I got up at 5:30 am and was enjoying the quiet of the house, thought I'd sit in the cool and watch the sun come out but decided to check my email. Which was my big mistake. You know, everyone always says about how great Firefox is, it's so much better than internet explorer, all that, but now this morning is the SIXTH TIME that I've lost ALL OF MY BOOKMARKS AND PASSWORDS on Firefox. I have no idea why it happens. Online I read that it can happen if you shut your computer down without closing firefox but I don't do that. It's really annoying and it happens so often that now I actually know where to click to FIND the old bookmarks and reinstate them. But I could not find my passwords so now every time I go to a site I have to reregister. Fortunately I use the same password for all of them so it's no biggie. But just an annoying pain in the ass, not what I want to do with my quiet time on an early morning in July. And of course I went on to a couple message boards I post on so I could plug my passwords etc in and had to cruise the messages and reply to THOSE. So I ended up wasting all this time. And now it's almost 8 and Brian's up, Becca's up, and all I did was sit on the computer.

It is hazy here and will probably be hot and humid AGAIN today. We didn't get to the lake yesterday (didn't go to the movie either)... just went into town and hung out at mom and dad's. They're going up to Canada this weekend and will probably be there the next three weeks so we wanted to get some time in with them. One reason they are going up now is that the Nationals are out of town the next few weeks and they will only miss one game if they go up now (they have that Sunday season ticket plan). They offered us the tix for this Sunday and we haven't decided if we're going or not. We can't take Becca if we do. It's not like at the old stadium where we all could go with them on the spur of the moment if we wanted to. They have two tickets and that means if Brian and me want to go we need to drop Becca someplace (Dan and Laura's or Danny and Ronnie's or Rita and TOny's... there are options but then she wants to know why she can't go with).

We will probably go anyway though for a couple reasons, the main one being that if Danny and Ronnie take her Sunday they have the pool at their place. And it's Houston, which means I get to go and boo Miguel Tejada, lmaaao.

So we'll see.

Brian's up and wants to make pancakes. Talk about lite fare, lmaaao. Not exactly pancake weather but we have all these fresh strawberries, so I guess he's amped to make strawberry pancakes. So I will let him.

Tell Mauramodel HI and Marty too and kiss Maggie Kay for me... and do whatever you want to do to TODD on my behalf, lmaaao. Like I said, Kathy is wrong. He's not a "dilf." He's too cute and woodsy and earthy to be a dilf.

They look happy and sweet and their eyes all sparkly. I just need to remember how to get the picture over to my laptop.

Hi Margo, guess you guys went to that movie after all, huh? Hope you didn't have your phone on in the theater, lol. We are here, hot and humid today but a lovely night. Maura worked tonight so we had an evening on our own, just took a long walk down the rec path near her house, took Maggie mini golfing which was where I called you from, brought her back and put her down and opened a bottle of white wine which Todd recommended. He is a SWEETHEART and I am really happy that Maura and he are involved. Told you all this but just like typing it, lol, they are a lovely couple, and I like typing that too, they just look natural together. I hate to say it but I look at them together and see little Mauras. As long as they stay away from Grandma while they're going through middle school, lol. Anyway like I said she worked tonight but just called and said that they "got rid of the last table" about five minutes ago. THere's a winning attitude toward your customers, lol, "got rid of them." No she told us exactly what happened, they had no one in the place most of the evening and just as they were breaking everything down cleaning etc a couple came in FIFTEEN MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING and of course the owner of the place ("Ding dong," Maura calls her, i don't even know what the woman's real name is, lol) let them in and "fell all over herself seating them" and then what else?? TOOK OFF AT NINE (closing time), "so she let these people in and left the three of us holding the bag." But they're gone and a good thing too, Marty and me are starving, lol. No, Maura said she'd have Todd make Marty and me shift meals, and she called to tell us get ready, it's burgers with blue cheese and bacon, sweet potato fries and mixed green salad. Nice light fare, just what I need at 10 pm, lol, anyway she said she's going to finish up and say good night to Todd and then come home. Like I told you a nice day, really nice to be up here with her again, and Marty loves it of course, Maggie of course is so happy to see her sister. She is doing what Becca did when you guys came up here, sleeping in the futon with Maura out in the main room while Marty and I take the bed in the bedroom. She's here already! WIth Todd! So I'm hitting send. I'll call tomorrow morning but just wanted to say HI, in case I didn't say we will be back in Pleasant Gap Thursday night sometime, that way we'll have all day Friday and the weekend before Marty starts in with the band on Monday, can't believe football season practices are already here but next week, there we go.
